ClockPix

A photo of a clock is an odd thing. It records something that is gone instantly: the correct time. The clock makes an effort to show the right time all the time. A camera records one moment and freezes time. The clock on the photograph doesn't tell time anymore.

Unless you look at the picture at the right time. Now that's a drag, you might think, because you have to look at the photo first, then at a clock and wait until it's the right time. Of course. Unless the webpage does all the work for you and shows the right photograph at the right time. All of a sudden all those frozen clocks are functioning, precise time pieces again. Not just new clocks, but also clocks on postcards, clocks on puzzles, clocks on TV - they all can tell the current time in ClockPix.

ClockPix is a large collection of photos with clocks on them, a script that shows the right picture at the right time and a webpage. Set your watch on a fifty year old postcard of Big Ben.

Participate!

Currently we're collecting material, the more contributors the more diverse and interesting the Clock will become. Take pictures of your watch, your alarm clock, the radio next to your bed, the office clock that stopped working years ago!

There are many minutes to fill, so send us your photographs of clocks. For the first phase of this project we're going for covering 5-minute segments of 12 hours first. That means 144 slots need to be filled. When all slots are covered, we'll take the engine online to display the right picture at the right time.

Check the timeslots to see which pictures we're most interested in.
