Close up of the quote, and a closerupper of the typeface. Taken at the Alexander Plaza Hotel, Rosenstrasse, Berlin. May 2001.
An information panel in a Berlin hotel lobby tells the story of the area the hotel is in. Apart from the history, it is interesting to see that Goebbels used FF Trixie for his diary, a 48 years before the typeface was drawn.
I can see the designers of this panel are going for an 'authentic' look - but I think the quote is treated wrong - it's meant to look like a reproduction of the real thing, whereas what you're looking at is something somebody made on a computer. The typography and the choice of typeface could have made the difference.
I don't mean to dis the designers who made the panels - I don't think they meant any harm. The panels were alright and it was certainly more interesting to read than the local ads you find in other hotels. But I thought it was worth a pic.
